We provide consulting services, training, and toolkits to corporate recruiting/HR teams at companies of all sizes. Typical projects range from helping companies setup and structure their recruiting organization and processes, to building targeted sourcing strategies for major hiring initatives, to selecting and implementing the right Applicant Tracking System, to writing custom employer branding/recruitment messaging content that speaks to your target candidates. On the training side, we are hired to build and deliver custom workshops for recruiters, recruiting managers, hiring managers, and interviewers to help you source, screen, interview, select, sell, and on-board top talent.
We’re typically hired by C-level execs at startups and recruiting and HR directors/VPs at medium and larger sized companies. We’ve worked with diverse clients across geographies and industries, from giant high tech companies to regional hospital systems to big retailers. Our clients typically share one thing in common: they want to improve their in-house recruitment capabilities, and seek a partner to help them tackle key recruitment initiatives and/or train their recruiting or hiring manager/interviewing teams on real-world best practices.
While it’s true we’ve been hired by very large global companies, we also enjoy working with our very small clients. We typically help smaller companies with projects that are focused on empowering hiring managers with better training and tools, building better sourcing strategies and employer branding/recruitment messaging strategies so that you can compete with better resourced, larger companies for top talent, and helping to select and implement key technology – like a good ATS – so that you can focus your limited time on the highest ROI activities. We also encourage our smaller clients to consider sending someone from their team to one of our RecruitingLabs public workshops.
No. While our team members have all spent years recruiting and leading recruitment teams for some of the world’s most interesting companies, we don’t apply our hands-on recruiting expertise to searches. We are not a search firm. Instead, we leverage our years of in-house and consulting successes to help other companies – our clients – improve their in-house recruiting capabilities. We teach companies to fish.
Our home office is in Seattle, Washington USA, with consultants in Chicago and Washington, DC, we well. We travel to work onsite with our clients when it makes sense to work onsite. Key pieces of our discovery work – including focus groups and planning sessions – and training delivery are almost always delivered onsite. But, we’re sensitive to the lean nature of most HR budgets and try to keep our travel costs to a minimum by leveraging conference calls, Skype video calls, and webinar training when appropriate.
Our project fees typically range from US $15,000-$40,000, with average projects priced at less than one search firm fee. We mostly work on a project basis and deliver a fixed-fee proposal that outlines the specific deliverables, methodology, and costs associated with the work required to meet your goals.

Our clients tell us we’re priced competitively, and probably close to the 75th percentile for management consulting firms. They also tell us they get a lot of value from what we deliver, as we ensure that our deliverables aren’t just reports that will sit on a shelf.

As practitioners, we know how to zero in on the work that will actually get our clients the results they need. That’s part of the reason why the majority of our projects in the last 3 years have led to client-requested follow on work.

No. We don’t represent or sell any third party products, and we don’t accept commissions from any third party firms that we may recommend to our clients, including search firms, RPOs, and systems companies. While it’s tempting to accept commissions, we’ve made a decision to avoid any potential conflicts of interest. We have strong opinions about which vendors do quality work, but those opinions are not swayed by kickbacks or commissions.
