Interviewing Workshop

This workshop  – called Predicting Success – delivers practical strategies, tools and techniques to help Recruiters phone screen, interview, and recommend the candidates that will succeed in your company.  It also focuses on how a recruiter can set up the interview process for success and play a leadership role in keeping the hiring bar high.

  • How to effectively phone screen and evaluate candidates’ qualifications, interest, availability and affordability.
  • How to effectively set up the interviewing process for success by facilitating conversations with hiring teams to better define the hiring criteria, assign focus areas, establish a quality decision making process, keep the process legal, and prepare for a great candidate experience.
  • How to interview a candidate against your job’s hiring criteria and the four critical evaluation categories (skills, fit, track record, and motivation) that predict on-the-job success.
  • How to leverage behavioral and situational/scenario-based interview questions to separate the good interviewee from the good performer.
  • How to facilitate a quality hiring decision with a hiring team.
  • How to effectively reference check candidates.

Built for your real world
All of our training is custom-built to align to your recruiting team’s challenges, goals, skill gaps, culture, and process. The actual workshop agenda is developed in partnership with you, the recruiting leader. We leverage real world interviewing scenarios to ensure that recruiters leave with practical, actionable strategies and tactics. We build these scenarios after conducting focus group calls with your team, so that we’re sure they’re on target.

It’s practical
If it isn’t practical and easy, recruiters likely won’t use it. Our training doesn’t spend an hour telling them “why” selecting the right people is so important; they know that. It focuses on the “how” and is loaded with one- and two-page tools and templates to make interviewing and selecting the right people easy.

It’s customized to your hiring criteria and recruiting culture
We customize the training ahead of time to focus in on your competencies by leveraging your insights into why people struggle, why people quit, and why people are declined after phone screens and interviews. We include simple handouts that help establish the “answers” we’re listening for, so that we leave with common, better-defined hiring standards.

We teach a methodology that works
We don’t simply share a book full of our favorite interview questions. We teach attendees how to evaluate candidates by leveraging a methodology that’s easy to remember and use, and moves them away from unreliable gut feelings, unsubstantiated biases, and canned questions.

We conduct 1-3 focus group calls with your recruiters before we design your training. This helps us to customize the content by learning more about the skill level of the recruiters who will attend and also learning to speak your “language”. It also helps your team get comfortable with us, our approach, and our expertise.

We include tools/templates with every workshop we deliver. These are designed to help the training “live on” after the workshop is over. We’re happy to incorporate your existing tools/templates with this training, too, as it can help you to drive adoption and make the workshop feel more integrated with your existing process.

After the training, Recruiters head back to their desks with easy-to-use tools to help them screen, interview, and reference check candidates. This is not some theoretical workshop focused on the importance of hiring top talent; it’s all about the “how to.”

How long is the workshop?

It depends on the agenda we custom-build for you, but – in general – these workshops are a half to full day.
