Why Choose Recruiting Toolbox's Candidate Experience Workshop For Your Recruiting Team?

Custom Training

We invest time upfront to learn more about your current recruiting challenges, internal best practices, hiring manager feedback, and goals so that what we build resonates with your diverse recruiting team and leads to change in your real-world of competing priorities and limited time.

Aligned Teams

Our focus is on training - but just as importantly, it's on driving alignment with your recruiting teams. We partner with you to ensure that we're setting realistic expectations for what it means to be a Talent Advisor in your own environment, your culture, and your resource model. One of the great outcomes of our training is shared language we can all use when engaging the business.

Credibly Delivered

Our workshops are credibly delivered by former corporate Recruiting Leaders, not generic trainers. We have experience as corporate recruiters and recruiting leaders, and understand how to engage junior to senior recruiting teams, including skeptics who are reluctant to change or maybe even think they have little to learn. We know nobody wants some academic, preachy trainer telling them "you're doing it wrong" - that's not us. We get the challenges of recruiting, and it shows up in post-training feedback.

Tools, Guides, and Phrases

Your recruiting team will receive practical tools and guides designed to help them better lead the recruiting process, set and manage expectations, educate hiring managers on tradeoffs, push back on unrealistic managers, and deliver a strategy/plan that gets them the hires needed.  They’ll also learn new language they can use in their daily life when engaging as Talent Advisors (not order takers!).

Making it Stick

After the training has been delivered, we work closely with the recruiting leadership team to recommend changes to ensure the best practices stick.  How do we get recruiters to use these new guides and tools, how do we drive adoption of these new processes, how do we hold them accountable for these new expectations?  We can help

Train-the-Trainer

We want to create client independence, not dependence.  So, for our larger clients, we build out a trainer’s guide and lead a train-the-trainer session to build your team’s capabilities to redeliver this workshop across your organization for years to come.

Help your corporate recruiting team engage and influence hiring managers, lead the process, and drive strategies that help you hire the best talent, quickly. We partner with you to transform recruiters into Talent Advisors.

What do we focus on?

This is not traditional training. This is a hands-on workshop, where your teams will uncover current state, build the future state, and design and walk away with new processes and tools to help elevate your candidate experience.

  • How to set and manage candidate expectations around the job, process, and timelines, including best-practice communications
  • How to get your interviewers and hiring managers delivering a better experience during interviews, whether the candidate is hired or not
  • How to teach your candidates to be successful, pre-interview
  • How to decline candidates in a way that leaves a positive impression
  • How to turn candidates and employees into brand-ambassadors and increase referrals
  • How to respond to negative candidate feedback – online, via surveys, and verbally – and how to fix root issues

Custom Built, with Assessment

Before we deliver this smart, hands-on workshop, we partner with you to evaluate your current candidate experience, compare that to best practices, and identify the biggest opportunity areas to focus on in the workshop. We also work to baseline and measure your current candidate experience, so that you can measure improvements over time using the survey and evaluation practices we build. Our goal is measureable improvement from changes in behaviors and processes, not from new technology or big-budget buys.

Why Invest in Candidate Experience?

We build our employment brand one candidate at a time. And, if we want to close top talent, we must create a compelling candidate experience. Additionally, Talent Board surveys with tens of thousands of candidates show that 41% of candidates who have a negative candidate experience will take their business – as consumers – somewhere else. Your talent leaders should be communicating a well-defined candidate experience expectation to your recruiters and hiring teams. Let’s build it, together.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

  • New and Experienced Hiring Managers
  • New and Experienced Interviewers
  • New and Experienced Recruiters

We conduct focus group calls with your recruiting team, interviewers, hiring managers, and recent hires before we design your training. This helps us to customize the content by learning more about the skill level of the people who will attend and also learning to speak your “language.” It also helps your team get comfortable with us, our approach, and our expertise.

We can build custom versions just for engineering, sales, management roles, corporate teams, and more, so that you can invite people to attend as intact teams and/or go deeper into examples for specific job families.

Who delivers the workshop?

Our workshop facilitators are former corporate recruiting leaders who have built and deployed interview training in the real world environments of busy, cynical hiring managers, unique cultures - where fit matters - and big growth.

We know how to help companies - from retailers to bio-tech to technology leaders - define their hiring bar and philosophy, and then build a custom workshop that delivers just what their hiring teams need.

For larger companies, we typically train up the first 40-100 people, and then build and deliver a train-the-trainer program, so that your internal teams can deliver the training and scale up the rollout. Companies like PepsiCo, Yahoo!, Booking and Starbucks leverage their internal trainers or recruiting leaders to deliver the workshops now.

We also offer scalable, online video-based training (delivered by John Vlastelica, creator of Predicting Success), with 100+ 3-5 minute episodes covering all things interviewing, complete with quizzes and completion measurement tools. Learn more about our online training.

John Vlastelica, our founder and the creator of Predicting Success, built Amazon's interview training program and co-built and co-led their Bar Raisers program with executive leaders.

What tools will we co-build in this workshop?

  • Candidate Experience Net Promoter Score Calculator
  • Custom candidate experience survey
  • Recruiter candidate experience expectations for pre-interview, interviewing, and post-interview
  • Interviewer and Hiring Manager candidate experience checklist
  • How to Engage upset candidates or address negative feedback cheat sheet

We include tools/templates with every workshop we deliver. These are designed to help the training “live on” after the workshop is over. We’re happy to incorporate your existing tools/templates with this training, too, as it can help you to drive adoption and make the workshop feel more integrated with your existing process.

After the training, hiring managers and interviewers head back to their desks with easy-to-use 1-2 page guides to help them screen and interview candidates. This is not some theoretical workshop focused on the importance of interviewing top talent well; it’s all about the “how to.”

How long is the workshop?
It's typically 2 full days.

Do you deliver this onsite or virtual?
Both. We typically deliver these custom workshops onsite, at your offices. We've delivered these workshops around the world - Abu Dhabi, UAE to Nuremberg, Germany to San Francisco, California. We also deliver these workshops in smaller 2-hour modules over 6-8 weeks via our live webinar platform. Onsite is always more interactive, more engaging than the webinar style training, but we can do both.

How many recruiters can attend a workshop?
We need a minimum of 12 people/workshop and can handle up to 25. Occasionally, for large talent acquisition teams, we can do 50-100 with multiple trainers. That's what we've done for large recruiting teams at companies like Booking.com and Starbucks.

Do you offer this training in a public workshop format? What if we have a really small team of 1-5 recruiters?
Sorry, we don't offer this training to the public. We only offer this as custom built, onsite training for teams of 12+ recruiters.

How much does the training cost?
It depends, but fees start at about $25,000.

I want to learn more. Who can I contact?
Please contact us and tell us more about your team, your goals, and the location of your desired training, and we'll get someone from our team to contact you to learn more and share more.
